Hey, quick query into a piece of information on the event log from the O2 router. My connection as of late has been very good with O2, although I have taken a static Ip on board, for the extra £5 I thought it was worth a go. Anyway I was browsing away as normal, using messengers etc like I have been doing for the past god knows how many years. Anyway my connection went down for like 1 minute and just came back online as normal. I had a quick look in the event log on the router under SuperUser and noticed this... which I had never seen before...

xDSL linestate up (ITU-T G.992.5; downstream: 15454 kbit/s, upstream: 1291 kbit/s; output Power Down: 18.5 dBm, Up: 12.0 dBm; line Attenuation Down: 25.5 dB, Up: 12.5 dB; snr Margin Down: 6.5 dB, Up: 6.5 dB)

Is that perhaps something to do with my connection going down?

Anyone shed some light on that?

Cheers,

Luke

I fully appreciate this will be of interest to very few people here, but if there are any peeps in here who's job is techy and you're interested, Citrx have a series of free one hour webcasts to introduce people to both their technology and virtualisation in general (although the latter is still heavily geared to their own products).

Over the last few weeks I've responded to several requests for assistance that were sent to me via private message on here.

I took the time to respond to each and every one of them and in every case bar one, my messages were read within a few hours of my sending them.

And you know what? Not a single further message from them. Zip. Zero.

At the very least, it'd be nice to get a response letting me know whether my advice worked or not. Or here's a thing - how about a "thanks"?

One of the things I've always liked about this forum when compared to others has been the general helpfulness and friendliness of it, but guys...if you ask for help and are given it (bear in mind a lot of people you ask are busy with work, life etc) it would be nice if you could take the time to respond.

Otherwise, after a while, those of us who give our help freely - and there are more on here that do it far more often than me (Saturday, for example) - start to become a wee bit disillusioned and think "why bother?" and then everyone loses out.

Not that I'm about to ignore any request for help. Just making a general comment.

Also - Saturday, is it possible to get the facility to save more than 5 messages? As this includes sub folders and sent items, it's a wee bit restrictive sometimes.

Cheers folks.
