Re: Hi from a new guy!
Hello and welcome!
Can be a bit quiet here as O2 is a relatively trouble free service but folks here are really helpful when needed. See you around. |

Re: Hi from a new guy!
Welcome to the club. You won't regret joining O2 - I've been with them about a year and a half now and apart from the odd issue around quirks in the router, the service itself has been pretty much flawless.
And you won't find a more helpful bunch than here.

Re: Hi from a new guy!
I think a fair few here people migrated to O2 from Sky - not so much because of service problems, but usually because of their (Sky's) cavalier attitude to customers and customer service...
E.g. the letter they sent out to loyal customers explaining that if we'd had broadband for more than 6 months and didn't take out their phone package, that our subscription for broadband would go up by a fiver a month...coupled with their dreadful technical support who cannot cope with things such as customers changing the settings in the router, I think it was the final straw for many of us. When I made the move, I immediately got a circa 25% speed improvement, superb customer support and a rock solid and reliable service. One thing though - if you plan on doing gaming, you'd be best off not using the O2 router...they just don't tend to work as well as, say, netgear.

Re: Hi from a new guy!
Welcome aboard Marc.
Like others I left Sky to go o2 as I didn't want the 50% rise in broadband costs. I would echo others, I use the Sky Sagem router reflashed with Sagem FW on o2 and it is just so much better. Pings are normally fine averaging about 22 for me so gaming is great. Currently I am getting: Down 7694 kbps Up 1252 kbps

Re: Hi from a new guy!
Hi Marc,
Hope it all goes as well for you as it has tended to for everyone else. One quick point - if you haven't already done it, then when your old broadband is switched off it's a great time to check (and if necessary remove) the bell wire from your master socket. I did that and got a huge performance improvement. I seem to recall there being a tutorial on it on here somewhere.
