When I switched the cashback was £70, it gets paid after 3 months of being with O2, or may be it was for me since they offered me first 3 months free as well. Never had any issues with the broadband, works like a charm. Never had a better deal than this. Hope you have similar experience.

Already ordered my Free O2 sim card in anticipation of the move to get the £7.50 reduced rate for O2 standard (up to 8MB) and also found that £60 cashback is available through either Top Cashback and Quidco which would make O2 just £2.50 per month for 12 months for me!

I now need some convincing to make the move to O2! Sky haven't been that bad apart from their expensive and truly appaling customer services and trial implementation of DLM that doesn't appear to work properly...I know my lines not the best (Attenuation 53.0 down/31.5 up) despite sorting my wiring and fitting a filtered faceplate etc but pre DLM I had a connection of 4750 which only required an occasional reboot every couple of months or so and I was happy. Post their DLM trial and despite a long drawn out fight I've ended up with a capped connection of 4096/416 which Sky say is the absolute best they can provide for me and refuse to restore my pre DLM connection.

Convince me the grass is greener at O2???
Well after the latest announcement of the bandwidth allowance massacre for Sky Mid customers from 40GB down to 10GB I've taken the plunge and signed up with O2!

I got the £70 cashback deal through Quidco and also managed to squeeze Sky for a £5 per month discount off my Multiroom subscription when I threatened to cancel that as well so I don't think I've done that badly!

Sky's final act of total incompetence was to give me an INVALID MAC code but with the help of the MAC code checker I managed to find the VALID code after running through a few alternative combinations.

Got to say I'm extremely impressed with O2's communications so far.

Topped up and activated the free O2 sim card in a phone on Friday 26th June.

Signed up with O2 on Saturday afternoon 27th June.

Quidco deal tracked on 27th June and validated on 29th June.

The new O2 router was delivered this morning 30th June.

Now just waiting for the connection to be activated which is scheduled for Tuesday 7th July. (Hoping it might be sooner?)

Texts and emails from them every step of the way.

I would be grateful if somebody can point me to the definitive guide for flashing the Sky DG834GT V1 router so it can be used with O2?

Talking Re: The official say hello thread

I just realised that I've been loitering here since pretty much day one (of the site's renewal) and never actually introduced myself (or if I did, I don't remember doing it ) so hi everyone!

I made the switch from Sky to O2 business last November and I've got nothing but good things to say about their broadband - great support, great prices, great performance, great communications during the switchover, which Sky made more difficult than it needed to be.

Whilst I actually know very little about the technicalities of broadband, I do know an awful lot about Microsoft systems' - more with an emphasis on the server architecture (I work as an independent contractor for Microsoft as a messaging consultant [read Exchange], so I think I can generally hold my own there ).

So if anyone has any Operating System/Server System questions, I'll do my best to answer them in good time and to the best of my abilities.

Peace.

Tony.

Edit: Saturday, when did you actually make the switch over from Sky to O2??? I didn't notice when your profile changed! And how do you find it, as our resident DSL uber-guru?

Re: The official say hello thread

Hi Tony. I switched over more than a year ago.

Like you, I'm very impressed with O2 - both the joining process and subsequent contact, as well as finding the service fast and reliable.
