Port forwarding not working for xbox 360
Hi all. Im on the upto 8mb package with 02 broadband and have recently had a few problems with the UPNP on the o2 wireless box ii (thomson 585) so i have decided to assign the devices in my local area network fixed IP addresses and forward the relevant ports needed(all my stuff if wireless).
I've had a look on PortForward.com - ReplaceTitle on how to do the portforwarding and there is no real problem. i have forwarded some ports for my PC and checked with the PortForward.com - ReplaceTitle tool and they are now 'OPEN'. However for the xbox 360 i have done the same with ports 53,88,80,3074 and it is not working. My NAT is still showing up as STRICT. I've tried turning off the router firewall, windows firewall and eevrything else you can imagine and its still not working. Any ideas? Greatly appreciated. The pictures below may help to shed light on my situation. ![]() Last edited by new02user; 20-11-09 at 01:21 PM.. |

Hey,
I was too looking at a solution to this a few weeks back and after looking through a lot of gobbledegoop I came up with this working solution ![]() Quote:
No portforwarding needed.Aden. |

Doesn't
"ids config state disabled" Turn off intrusion detection? Not sure that's something you'd want to arbitrarily do without fully understanding what is happening?

Re: Port forwarding not working for xbox 360
Well that's what I have done, my xbox 360 is working great with no lag or cutouts or anything.
And my intrusion detection is still on! So it must do something different. |

Re: Port forwarding not working for xbox 360
has anyone actually found a proper solution to this? Port forwarding still doesnt work unless someone can go through specific steps with me namely someone who has succesfully port forwarded on the thomson router for xbox 360.
The reason is that i want to turn off UPNP as i fear it may be giving me random disconnects on the router (noise margin stays good and not many errors). thanks for your posts by the way guys. |

Re: Port forwarding not working for xbox 360
With the Thompson routers i finally figured it out, Set up your Ports as previous said and then in config in the router set the Xbox to always use same ip address.
Do not manually configure xbox , let it connect automatically as the router will now connect it to same ip everytime it powers up by finding its mac address. Since i did this i can actually see my router port mapping etc in the event logs. Hope this helps everyone else as my Xbox and Ps3 are now fine ![]()

Re: Port forwarding not working for xbox 360
HELP ! I TOO HAVE PORT FORWARDING PROBLEMS.
Have been with o2 for over a year. Have home ip camera to monitor my partner who is disabled and terminal. Originally had cam set up and working with DLINK G604T router as o2 said port forwarding would not work on their Thomson wireless box. Last week o2 changed my static ip as they said they had problems at the exchange. Needless to say I cannot now connect from work to my home ip cam called o2 tech guys who could not help setting up port forwarding so have been 10 days unable to connect I have the cam ip set to ip 192.168.1.65 on port 5000 for the the dlink Can anyone please advise how to set this up on o2 router please. Can works fine when I access it when im logged onto home wireless network with o2 router i just type in : http://192.168.1.65:5000 and i go to cam logon page. when i tr accessing from another location i get a connection error many thanks keith |

Re: Port forwarding not working for xbox 360
Hi Keith,
A change of external IP Address alone should not have stopped your cam from working... Presumably, you used to browse to http://old_ip_address:5000 ? Unless your router has been changed also/had all of its settings reset, you should just be able to browse to http://new_ip_address:5000 If you'd like to contact me in private, I'd be willing to try and help out more - perhaps taking a look at your setup for you? In the meantime, I no longer use the O2 supplied router, but if you check out PortForward.com - Port Forwarding Guides Listed by Manufacturer and Model there is very comprehensive help on how to configure routers of all shapes.
