Hello!
I have a few question. Today I sent an email(with kanal form?) to cancel my broadband and I asked the MAC code. How many days normaly they answer or send to me the MAC code? While I waiting for the MAC code I want to know some information about O2 and BE. ( I dont know which provider I will choose. I`m not order anything yet.) What is the different BE and O2? BE is offering some plus things for the highest price? Which provider can give more speed or better ping on the same distance? How much speed I cant get this stat? (about) ADSL Link Downstream Upstream Connection Speed 4096 kbps 768 kbps Line Attenuation 44 db 25 db Noise Margin 13 db 11 db I strongly thinking on O2 Standard package I think I can`t get more with this stat. On the smallest pack it isn`t have a limit for how many person connecting to the router? And the final question is it truly unlimited or just advertised? I`m looking forward for the answers and thank you for read it my questions. Lajos |

Re: New to O2 (may be)
Sky should take 5 days to send you the MAC code but I think the KANA form is a waste of time and it's more likely to get sorted quicker by phoning them and asking for the MAC (don't mention cancel as Sky may well just do that and not issue the MAC)
O2 and Be use the same network but seem to use different servers etc, when Be had a problem in one of their datacenters O2 customers were unaffected. As for speed and pings o2 give a lot lower ping than Sky ever did (more than half in most cases) and I'm afraid with your line attenuation you probably won't see much more than your current speed although you will get an upload of 1.3 meg/sec. The router supplied is a standard 4 port wireless router with all the functions of one but at least if you don't like that one you can use your own kit (although o2 won't support it) and although they say it's "unlimited" there is a proviso of if you deem to be downloading so much you are causing a problem to the network they will warn you to cut back. To be honest Sky Max offering truly "unlimited" downloads still may come home to bite them on the backside if they attract all the mega downloaders. For me I did over 60 gig last month on all sorts and o2 haven't crippled my connection, although it has been a lot lighter this month. Also when signing up do so via the Quidco site as there is a £70 cashback offer and if you are a O2 mobile phone cutomer you will get a £5 per month discount. |

Re: New to O2 (may be)
I need some good advice!!!
I gave the MAC code to O2(on website) at morning and it was soccessful. 2 hours later on the order status page was everything red and I got the massage you need to call O2. I did and the man told me the MAC code is not valid. I called back SKY and I asked again my MAC code which one I got it. I gave it to the MAC code to O2, just now on the phone. It was again soccessful still now when is everything red. Has anyone got the same problem? What I need to do? |

Re: New to O2 (may be)
The web page order status thing will be red as the stages haven't been completed yet, like the router going out and the direct debit being set up.
The 2 things you need to worry about is activation date and when the router will arrive and you should get tons of texts and emails with that data. |

Re: New to O2 (may be)
Thanks yor answer!!
We were finding the problem. (it was needed to call SKY and O2 seven times) Sky gave me wrong MAC code and O2 can`t use that. It was long and hard run with sky. ![]() |

Re: New to O2 (may be)
Today I tried to asked the second Mac code and I got it. (the women said is it valid from 28/04 to 28/05). Is it possible only the 2 last letter different from the first code and the new code?
I gave it to O2 about 50m and I waiting for is it valid or isn`t. (The man told me it looks like good but I need to wait about 2 hours to see is it realy valid.) If it not good the code what can I do?? (is it still red everything on the order status page as happend the last few times when it wasnt valid) I read on OFCOM website if the ISP not helpful anymore I can call BT to directly disconnect me from SKY and plug me to the O2 system. Someone tried this step? |
