Quickest Activation

Hi,

My phone line gets installed tomorrow (moved house a few weeks ago) - what's the quickest time I can expect between placing an order with O2 Broadband and it getting activated?

Thanks,

Ian

Re: Quickest Activation

Hard to say. I've heard people have got it in 3 days, others 10 days. It all depends on scheduling the engineers in the exchange.

Re: Quickest Activation

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

3 days would be really nice :-)

Hope it's not 10!!

(is that business days too?)

Thanks,

Re: Quickest Activation

I'm pretty sure I remember hearing of someone who ordered on a Friday and was connected the following Monday but I suspect that's very unusual and just down to luck that there were engineers scheduled to be in the exchange that day. I think within a week (elapsed days) is fairly typical though.

Re: Quickest Activation

That would be rather cool but unlikely I would guess

The line is installed and working and i've placed the broadband order.

How quick should I get an activation date?

So far i've not even had an order confirmation e-mail (it said I would) and when I log in, it says they are waiting on more information because I selected that i'm an O2 customer but didn't have the mobile number yet because it's a new iPhone and not delivered until release day, tomorrow so I can't get the verification text yet. I've called and given them the mobile number and they said it's come up as a pay monthly contract ok and the order is ok but for some reason it's still showing that message. I'll give it until later on and if it's still there i'll give them a call back...

Thanks,

Ian

Re: Quickest Activation

Hi,

Cool - just got my activation date - 26/6/09 - next Wednesday and the dispatch of the router is "In Progress".

Hopefully it will be done early next week though as usually it goes on early doesn't it?

The email says not to plug in the router until it's activated but I assume it's not a problem to do so? - i've never had a problem doing it before.

Thanks,

Ian

Re: Quickest Activation

Yes, may be done early but hours not days

Shouldn't be any problem plugging your router in whenever you want. Remember though that first your router will sync once the exchange equipment is in but there may be a delay before O2 then set up your authentication as they may wait to hear from the engineers (not sure what the current process is). Delay between the two (if any) should be quite short.

With all your anticipation, I hope O2 live up to your expectation

Re: Quickest Activation

Ah, ok - when we've moved office in the past and ordered ADSL, they've said a week and even given a date but then it starts working days before that.....but that's a few years ago and different ISP's!

I hope it's good too! - at least I know from plugging in to the old owners sky connection that the line is capable of a stable 5 mbps (and they put our new line on that same cabling etc yesterday as apparently there was no more lines when he went to the exchange - odd!) and all the reports seem to say again and again that O2 is better than Sky so hopefully it should be good.

Thanks for your help....will report back when it's on and give you the stats to analyse :-)

Thanks,

Ian
