Securing a Netgear router
when i flashed my netgear it connected fine but it was not a secured network. how do i make it secured so other people dont abuse my conection.

Not sure what you mean.The router has a firewall which in default mode will protect against most intrusion attempts and any connected devices are behind NAT. The wireless network can be secured by one of several protocols or for ultimate security can be turned off. |

when i open up network connections it says O2wireless439###
security-enabled wireless network(WPA). When i plug in my netgear its a open network. how do i set it to wpa on the netgear. |

Nope, still don't know what you mean.
Do you mean your O2 Box is set to O2wireless439###? If so then that's likely to be its SSID as it won't be broadcasting its security key. To set up wireless security in the Netgear, log into the router, choose Wireless settings, choose WPA-PSK, make up a network key and put it in the box, then click apply. Then put the same network key into whatever device you're trying to connect wirelessly to the router. Done. |
