When i first joined o2 i was told that i could get around 7meg (i didnt think that that was possible) and when i first connected i got around 3.5meg which i was happy with but resently the connection speed has dropped below 0.5meg! and i was wondering why this has happened

Line stats from the router plugged into test socket

Re: Connection Droped Considerably

You have severe line noise - if that's in your test socket and you've tried different filters (they can fail) then the problem is probably in your BT line. The reason I mention filters is that your upstream attenuation is way too high compared to your downstream and this can indicate a filtering problem. Your noise margin is a little high but that could just be the router/exchange equipment struggling to make a connection.

Call Sky and ask them to investigate. They'll call out a BT engineer if they agree that a line fault looks likely.

BTW, your attenuation will only support ~3meg though it could be the line fault (if there is one) has increased the attenuation a few db.

Just checking - is that noise margin and the sync speed staying the same?

Only if the problem turns out to be in your home wiring - but if those results are from your test socket (the one hidden inside your master socket) with nothing else plugged in that pretty much points to the BT line being the problem. However, if your sync stayed the same but the noise margin went up significantly then that would indicate something local.

Re: Connection Droped Considerably

That makes sense - a faulty router is definitely a possibility though not the most likely from the symptoms you describe.
