sky router

i got a sky DG834GT today and i want to flash it.
first of all i tried to get into the router and the box comes up and asks for un and pw,i put sky and admin and all that comes up is a blank page but in the bottom left corner of the screen it says "done"???is this right...
i also followed the instructions on sky user to flash it but in the wizard, when it gets to the page that tells you what firmware is on the router and the fw its upgrading to,it says ...DG834
current fw-417E
the upgrading to box is blank....
any ideas saturday????or anyone...

Re: sky router

A quick search of this forum first might have saved you some pain - I've posted links to flashing a Sky DG834GT a couple of times recently

Here they are again:

JJClements.co.uk Sky Router DG834GT Unlock

and then here:

How to use your own router with O2 Broadband

If the router is still in its original (Sky) state then the username/password is admin/sky not sky/admin. If still no go, then I suspect the previous owner changed them. To fix this, with the router powered up, push the end of a paper clip into the reset hole next to the power lead and hold in for 10 seconds. That will revert the router back to default settings including the username/password.

Re: sky router

Then it sounds like the previous owner screwed up the firmware. The reset didn't help?

Re: sky router

it did m8,i logged in and got the blank screen again so i closed firefox and opened it up again and typed the router address and what do you know.....got a page with sky details on..
now i got to figure out why the upgrade utility isnt showing up the new FW to flash it???
ive looked around and i think it may be my pc,something to do with the drivers???
on the recovery utility, its not coming up with the routers mac for some reason and i cant find a way to fix it.....
any ideas?

Re: sky router

theres is a quick fix on the skyuser forums, basically the recovery tool wont always work for everyone, the trick involves downloading firmware for another model and swapping the file before presing flash. dont worry it quite straight forward. im still looking for the link and will post it soon

Oh and as saturday said dont flash it vista your very likely to brick the router

Re: sky router

im using XP Saturday,on JJ clements tutorial in the comments someone has the same problem and he says that he experienced it and he thought it was the drivers that mess things up,cant find much info on it tho.....?
Retro Gamer, thanks m8,ill give that a go,hopefully itll be a fix for me..

this is my first pc,bought to learn on and from what i can see, everything inside it is INTEL.which i thought was quite good so im surprised its having problems with the recovery thingy.....
