Sky to O2 acitvated - Router Stats
Hi - O2 Access activated yesterday. I have removed my old sky router and setup my O2 wireless II. My Sky connect package was terriblly throttled, hence the reason I moved. My connection doesn't seem to be much better than sky albeit this it has only been activated for 24 hours and tonight is my first test.
Router is connected via master socket and I am using a wireless connection on my laptop. Here is my router stats: Uptime: 0 days, 3:32:47 DSL Type: G.992.1 annex A Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 8,128 Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/kB]: 0.00 / 0.00 Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 19.5 Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 13.5 / 24.0 SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 21.0 / 11.0 Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / TSTC Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0 Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0 Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0 Loss of Link (Remote): 0 Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 0 / 0 FEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 0 CRC Errors (Up/Down): 4 / 63 HEC Errors (Up/Down): 2 / 45 ![]() Can I make any changes to anything to get a better connection speed? Thanks folks. |

Your sync is great. Even though you'll get a slow down at peak times with O2 Access, if that speed test is accurate, I'd bet that a poor wireless connection is mostly to blame. |

Re: Sky to O2 acitvated - Router Stats
Thanks for getting back to me. I've been reading to try and understand what all the data means. I plugged in my ethernet cable and re run the speedtest.
![]() ![]() It varies when wired too from low up to as high as above. It was about 2mb on the O2 speedtester. Should I leave my settings as they are? Many Thanks |

Re: Sky to O2 acitvated - Router Stats
Yes, just leave the router and exchange to set your connection up - especially as you're in the first few days.
Looking at your stats there's really no room for improvement anyway. Your sync is at the maximum possible. Shame you (presumably) can't get an LLU connection - that would really fly with your attenuation. If your throughput is low then in order of likelihood:

Re: Sky to O2 acitvated - Router Stats
Saturday - I think it must be my network congestion at peak times. With Sky Connect after the speed was cut with DLM or whatever they changed too I could only get about 256kb/s. The only LLU connection my exchange has is talktalk which is not very good.
If your throughput is low then in order of likelihood: * you are suffering from network congestion (O2 Access product only and peak times only) Im access and i've only tested it tonight. * your connection to the router is duff (i.e. wireless) Tests the same wired or wireless at the moment? * your TCP/IP settings need changing (XP only - not Vista) I'm Vista * you are using a duff speed checker Been using O2 speedtester / Sky / Speedtest.com * something else on your PC/network is using bandwidth (e.g. Skyplayer, BBCi or malware) I've not got anything on that I know of? I'll monitor it and pop updates on. Thanks for giving me piece of mind. At least I can now stream a youtube clip or listen to online radio now I'm on O2 ![]() |
