New user - random disconnects
I have been with o2 for over a week now and we regularly get 2-3 disconnects a day.
i have the router plugged into the test socket. i know o2 do some training but we have had no choice but to turn the pff then on again to get our connection back. it will be fine for hours then same thing - no connection. These are the router stats at a disconnection at 2pm: Uptime: 0 days, 14:48:17 DSL Type: G.992.5 Annex M US 56 Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,438 / 8,224 Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/GB]: 258.15 / 5.65 Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 13.0 / 18.5 Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 19.0 / 35.5 SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 4.5 / 12.5 Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / BDCM Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0 Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0 Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0 Loss of Link (Remote): 0 Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 68 / 0 FEC Errors (Up/Down): 129 / 183,709,874 CRC Errors (Up/Down): 129 / 58,889 HEC Errors (Up/Down): 311 / 13,317 this is now (2.30pm): Uptime: 0 days, 0:09:25 DSL Type: G.992.5 Annex M US 56 Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,321 / 10,464 Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/MB]: 526.00 / 1.59 Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.5 / 19.0 Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 19.0 / 35.5 SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 6.5 / 9.0 Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / BDCM Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0 Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0 Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0 Loss of Link (Remote): 0 Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 0 / 0 FEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 2,426,418 CRC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 101 HEC Errors (Up/Down): 321 / 37 I have noticed the noise margin changing over the course of the day. After a reset the SN margin is set to 7.0 (down). I am wondering if I have a line fault. any suggestions before I speak to o2? |

Re: New user - random disconnects
Definately speak to O2 - it could also be a faulty router.

Re: New user - random disconnects
Spoke to o2 - very nice and helpful guy - not patronising.
They say they cant see any disconnects however the noise margin is all over the place. They have set the noise margin to 9 and I will give that a few days. If they does not work they say they will ask BT to check. |

Re: New user - random disconnects
I would have thought that if they can't see disconnects yet you haven't been able to get online that there's a router issue? In my mind - granted this could be false logic - this suggests that the router itself isn't disconnecting until you reboot it, at which point it comes back to life until next time?
Is it nice and cool? I had one overheating. Do you have an alternative router that you could try?

Re: New user - random disconnects
I never got to the bottom of things... my connection is stable now at 8 Mbps, I cant be sure it was something line related, something O2 did or something a reinstall of windows on one of my PC's corrected. (I have an initial image I use with all my programs and settings so it takes 40 min to rebuild a computer)
Am happy now Thanks to the guy form O2 who was very friendly and everyone who replied.
