IP Ranges for O2

Hi Saturday, if your are monitoring.

Due to the failure of my Netgear DG834PN, I have had to change over to a new Netgear DG835G (UK). I spoofed the MAC code to be the same as my old router, because I didnt want to change my IP address which was in the 93.x.x.x range because it has always been sticky and I like it.

On connecting the router to set the adsl2+ etc O2 has allocated a new IP
of 188.220.xx.x, which seems strange as I didnt think this was in the O2 range, I thought they were 93/94/86/87.

Have things changed.

Mike

Re: IP Ranges for O2

Looks like O2 has added a new IP range - it is showing as bethere zone 11.

Not sure why you didn't keep your old IP address though if you spoofed your MAC. I'm still on the 93 range.

What range do you get if you use the new router's MAC? (Bear in mind it may take 30 minutes to allocate if you've used more than 3 MACs over time).

Re: IP Ranges for O2

If I use the default MAC the IP stays in same range but last octet increases by 2.

Also I note dslam upsync is now only 1099 when it used to be 12xx. but I am resyncing during the day and normally do it a 6am.

Not sure whether its now worth using the spoofed mac or the real mac no real difference.

If the default MAC is giving the same range then I think there's a chance you mis-entered the original MAC when trying to spoof it.

Change in upstream will be down to the firmware in your new router I suspect.

Re: IP Ranges for O2

Problem solved, original IP back. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, I have managed to connect into my old router and found the actual MAC address as in the "Router Status" page was DIFFERENT (only by one digit) from the label stuck on the bottom of the router!!!

Moral of the story, is print out your stats page and dont necessarily believe whats on the label.

New DG834G spoofed with correct MAC and original IP back
