What's best for me when i move to O2 from sky standard or premium?

Spoke to O2 today about possibly moving to them in december and they said that so long as i registered my interest now O2 Broadband - Get connected anytime, anywhere then i would still be able to get 2 months free if i move from sky even if the offer has finished as it will be on record and they will honour it so filled out form on the link to get my name onto the system.

When joining shud i go on premium and downgrade or standard and upgrade tarif. They said to today that they estimate my line to be 7 meg and i currently get 5.3meg off sky. Just thinking they might tend to throw more speeds at me if i am on premium or is this not the case?

No, they can't "throw" more speed at you just because you're on Premium.

If you got 7meg on Standard, that's what you'd get on Premium. My advice is to order Standard and should your line turn out to be capable of more than 8meg O2 will usually contact you and ask if you want to upgrade.

As we already suggested in your other post, as you're unlikely to get over 8mbps then I'd start of on the standard package first.

I've noticed you're asking the same thing on the SkyUser forum as well.

I got o2 prem' package even tho o2 estimated my line to also only achieve 7mb but its currently getting 14mb..

even if you get the pro package if you line cant handle over 8mb they'll automatically lower your package to the standard and refund the difference.

Re: What's best for me when i move to O2 from sky standard or premium?

when your first connected o2 will give your line the maximum it can handle.if that happens to be higher than the package youve chosen,o2 will offer an upgrade.
so no matter what you choose, your line will sync at the maximum it canat first.
the op aboves attenuation is 37db so why he was quoted 7mb i dont know, its a pretty conservative estimate for his line length.
order what you think is best for you but dont expect miracles,o2 will give you the best connection for your line.

Re: What's best for me when i move to O2 from sky standard or premium?

These were the OP's previously posted stats:

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5216 kbps 768 kbps
Line Attenuation 47.0 db 29.0 db
Noise Margin 7.1 db 15.0 db

As you can see it was 47db, not 37, which was why it was suggested it was unlikely for him to get over 8mbps with his current setup.

But, at the end of the day he should be getting 2 months free anyway and as has been mentioned he'll be offered an upgrade/downgrade to the most appropriate package so there's nothing to lose by choosing either package.

those stats belong to lynnwood,i was talking about BILLYS stats.
Sync Drop you look in his thread his attenuation is 37db.i was just commenting that 7mb was a conservative estimate,it should be more like 10mb.
he replyed to lynnwood that o2 said hed get 7mb aswell, but he got 14mb.he never said his line was a lot shorter.it raises hopes for speeds that are not going to happen
