Post Poor wireless range

Hi there,

I have just moved to O2 from Tiscali and have installed the standard white router that o2 provide.

However, I am finding that the wireless range of this is signifcantly poorer than the Speedtouch I had from Tiscali and I now have "black spots" in a number of places in my home (I live in a townhouse which is built over 3 levels and the router is in my office on the ground floor).

Does anyone have any suggestions how the signal can be improved or boosted (signal boosters, replacement antennae, etc.) ?

Many thanks in advance.

Re: Poor wireless range

Keep the router up off the floor and away from any source of rf noise such as Dect phones, large electrical items etc. Then try experimenting with different wireless channels - start at C13 and work down until you find the best.

Re: Poor wireless range

Or just use your original router...

Why not keep the router on middle floor, should give better reception to groun d and top floors, one of my friend lives in a similar property, he has done this, still cannot get reception in his study somehow (in converted loft), so he uses the powerline adapter to extend the connection.
Infact if you dont need wireless access at all places then keep router close to where you need wireless and other places get wired access via powerline adapters/ run couple of ethernet cables.
