New02user having problems + Superuser issues.
Hi i have just recently moved from Sky broadband to 02 broadband but i have been having some problems.
My router has been disconnecting quite frequently and i am also unable to locate my detailed stats when i log in as Superuser under the new web interface (which has supposedly begun 9/9/09.) I am on the up to 8mb package but can sync at over 10mb and have got the Thomson white router. I am connected through the test socket(inside master socket) to try and avoid any internal wiring problems. Please try your best to assist me. thanks. |

Re: New02user having problems + Superuser issues.
I don't use the O2 Box but you should find the stats under:
Broadband Connection DSL Connection Details (top right corner of page between Overview and Help) Or try this: 192.168.1.254/cgi/b/dsl/dt/?ce=1&be=0&l0=1&l1=0 Log in with either the old superuser logins or the new (depending on whether your router has been updated or not). Re: New02user having problems + Superuser issues.
have you called the broadband helpline? from personal experience they are very helpful. o2 dont allow bt to automatically tweak your snr (was told by customer services) its so you know whats going on with your account. they tweaked mine, lost 2Mb sync but no longer suffer from random disconnections.

Re: New02user having problems + Superuser issues.
BT don't have anything to do with any of O2's broadband products other than Home Access.

Re: New02user having problems + Superuser issues.
thanks alot saturday that link worked mate.
I was actually syncing at above 10mbps on the upto 8 mb package b4 but i think they realised this and have set me tp 8mb now(within the 10 day testing period or whatever its called). Ive just done a reboot b4 seeing this post so i'll wait a few hours and ill post the stats then. thanks for your help guys. EDIT: Another thing how much percentage should one be seeing of their sync speed in speedtests/actual downloads etc because at the moment i am syncing at 8,167mbps down but getting only about 6.8 in speedtests etc. Ok here are the stats after 2 hours of uptime: DSL Connection Link Information Uptime: 0 days, 2:04:53 DSL Type: G.992.5 annex A Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,256 / 8,187 Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/kB]: 0.00 / 0.00 Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 18.5 Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 20.0 / 38.5 SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 7.0 / 7.0 Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / BDCM Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0 Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0 Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0 Loss of Link (Remote): 0 Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 0 / 0 FEC Errors (Up/Down): 78 / 15,742 CRC Errors (Up/Down): 78 / 9 HEC Errors (Up/Down): 237 / 7 Last edited by new02user; 13-09-09 at 12:52 PM.. |

Re: New02user having problems + Superuser issues.
That's normal for O2 - they usually let your connection run at the max it can to see what it is capable of. Then they cap you down to your package if you don't want to move up (your max is only a bit over your package so it will be interesting to see if you get a call/email asking you).
Think of sync as the "raw" speed. From that you have to deduct TCP/IP overheads which are a bit over 15%. So for a sync of 8187kbps, the maximum throughput possible is ~6950kbps. Allowing for the inaccuracies of speedtesters, it looks like your throughput is exactly what it should be. |

Re: New02user having problems + Superuser issues.
thanks for that info saturday.
Yeah they have sent me an email but the problem is it goes something like this: "Just a note to say that we've completed a health check on the actual speed of your O2 Home Broadband line. The good news is that everything is fine. In fact our line speed test showed that you could be enjoying speeds of up to For further details Click here to visit My Broadband (you will need your user name and password handy). We hope that you enjoy your new O2 Home Broadband service, and thanks for choosing O2. " Not much use when they say up to and then leave a blank there lol. What are your reflections on my stats by the way? These are the latest(i dont think its peak time atm though): DSL Connection Link Information Uptime: 0 days, 2:48:14 DSL Type: G.992.5 annex A Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,256 / 8,187 Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/kB]: 0.00 / 0.00 Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 19.0 Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 20.0 / 38.5 SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 6.5 / 6.5 Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / BDCM Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0 Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0 Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0 Loss of Link (Remote): 0 Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 0 / 0 FEC Errors (Up/Down): 80 / 24,376 CRC Errors (Up/Down): 80 / 11 HEC Errors (Up/Down): 237 / 8 Last edited by new02user; 13-09-09 at 01:35 PM.. |
