Unlimited?

Sky have run DLM on my line and managed to reduce my speeds by 50% even though the connection has been perfect for the last 3 years! I really cant be bothered wading through the treacle that they call customer service, so am thinking of jumping ship to O2, my question is is O2 truly unlimited or do they enforce any usage policy or traffic shaping, throttling etc? also how smooth is the switch likely to be?

Re: Unlimited?

Im a very heavy home user and so far (13 months) i haven't had any sort of fair usage policy or traffic shaping performed on my account

as for the switch over, it was very easy.
connection was only down for about an hour, although it did take about a day to get up to full speed

Re: Unlimited?

Im in the process of switching from Sky. Sky stuffed up getting my MAC code as expected.

O2 on the otherhand wow

signed up online, the number I used for the discount wasnt reducing the monthly cost so called support, answered in seconds by an extremly helpfull member of staff that sorted it out with a minimum of fuss and they kept me informed of what was going on by popping back whilst I was on hold. 10/10 for service.

took 24hrs for the flurry of emails and txt you get informing you that your line has past testing DD setup and the router is on the way, my router is being delivered today and ativation day is 22nd cant wait wooo

Re: Unlimited?

Thanks for the info guys, I was told by Sky that I have to wait for a 10 day training period to end to see if my line improves, that was nearly 2 weeks ago and nothings changed. So I will give it untill the weekend and if no improvement then I will put the wheels in motion. O2 have always been pretty good with my mobile, they seem to bend over backwards when you ring CS.

Re: Unlimited?

I'm really impressed with O2 customer services. I get my (Business) broadband, (Business) BlackBerry and the wife's iPhone contract through them and apart from what I consider to be a company policy of raping BlackBerry users' the moment you step outside the UK, I wouldn't dream of changing.

In terms of my broadband, when I moved from Sky to O2 I got a 25% jump in speed, much better ping times and what is simply great customer services. In terms of their unlimited, I am not ordinarily a massive downloader but there are odd weekends when I hit the line to its max by downloading ISO after ISO for work and I've never had as much as an email.

Go O2. If just for their much better customer services. That's my personal opinion.

Re: Unlimited?

Just echo what others have said. I've been very impressed with O2 so far and totally unlimited. I moved from Sky Mid in August and for the first time ever I've done 100GB this month and not a peep from O2.

Don't mess about get your MAC code from Sky and make the move NOW.

Don't forget there's 3 months free on sign up plus up to £100 Cashback (depending on package chosen) from either TopCashBack or Quidco plus £40 Arsenal shop voucher fromhttps://www.together-we-stand.com/

Re: Unlimited?

Although there is a FUP I did a couple of months of 80gig per month a few months back and again nothing from O2, although I kept the downloads off peak.

So currently looks like you can do what you like as long as you don't bring the network down.

Plus they let my wife work from home, sweet.

Re: Unlimited?

This is all very good to hear, although I am not a heavy user, i like the reassurance that I CAN use it if i need to.

Have just spoken with a man at Sky, and he assures me my MAC code will be in the post within the next few days

Re: Unlimited?

OFCOM rules state that you must have your MAC code within 5 working days.
