Does security patch remain after router reset?

I'm a new customer to O2 (officially joined yesterday) and the router upgraded itself with the security update within about two hours. However, after forgetting my Administrator password change, I had to reset the router.

I was wondering whether the router reset would have affected the firmware/security update, and if so how I can get it to update again?

Re: Does security patch remain after router reset?

The only thisng the security update did was change the Administrator and SuperUser passwords to be your routers serial no. I'd assume a hard reset would have set these back to the original security settings, potentially leaving you vulnerable again. All you have to do os log on to both Administrator and SuperUser and set new passwords. I'd also recommend changing the Wireless security mode to WPA2.

Re: Does security patch remain after router reset?

That's okay then as I've changed both passwords again anyway.

Yep, set security to WPA as soon as I got the router.

Off topic, but I've done a speedtest on speedtest.net and it's showing that I've done a speedtest on 07/08. I was with Sky then and that wasn't me (only got O2 yesterday) and that was showing a speed of 10mb, whereas I get 3mb. Is that where O2 share out ISP's and I'm going to come across that issue?

Re: Does security patch remain after router reset?

I'd be really surprised if the fix O2 put out was removed with a router rest. However, I don't use their router so can't test it.

I don't quite understand your second point but I think you're asking whether speedtest.net store a test against an IP address? Don't know if that's the case but it wouldn't surprise me. So, yes, if that's so then it's going to give spurios results with any ISP that uses dynamic IPs (which is most of them) - speedtest.net really is a pretty poor speedtester.
