Question Quick Check

Still on the extension (just moved in so not had a chance to move the router yet) but how's things looking??

Link Information

Uptime: 13 days, 4:32:39
DSL Type: G.992.5 annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,295 / 8,187
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/kB]: 0.00 / 0.00
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 19.0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 16.0 / 30.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 6.0 / 8.0
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / BDCM
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): 0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 2,817 / 1,138,367
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 2,817 / 288
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 1,678 / 194

I know the FECs look high but tbh it's not affecting performance much if at all...I assume they'll go down once I move back to the master...

Re: Quick Check

That looks pretty much OK. Forget about the FEC errors, they're pretty much meaningless and have no effect on your connection. You think yours are high after 13 days, I've been connected just 4 days and already have 93 million FEC errors.

That's a quirk of the exchange equipment and will be reported incorrectly. In any event FEC errors are corrected without the need for retransmission and nothing to worry about. Your error levels are fine for a substantial uptime. Higher in your upstream so noise/interference is in the lower part of the spectrum.

As mentioned in your other earlier thread, with that attenuation there must be a fair amount of noise in the connection for your noise margin to be at default. As you say, the extension may be to blame. Still, you're connecting at the max for the package and that wireless throughput looks excellent - assuming you can trust speedtest.net.

Re: Quick Check

Off the extension the SNR is around 15dB so I know it's the cause (it's a crap plug in one too!!!) but that'll be out the picture soon anyway...

cheers guys, knew it was corrected errors but wasn't sure if them being high was anything to worry about!!

LLU is a world appart from BTW - seriously had NO idea how different they were until now...
