After pulling my hair out, I was wondering if anyone can help me in establishing an AP in my house. My current set up is to that I have my O2 Wireless box set up in the bedroom upstairs (dont want to move it).
Because my walls are so thick, I cant get connectivity downstairs and hence want to establish an AP downstairs as a 'repeater'. How do I do this? I have an old Sky Sagem router if this is any use. I have read a few posts describing different bits and pieces, but it isnt making sense to me. Would somebody please be able to talk me thorugh it step by step and in laymans terms pse? Will the sky router suffice or will I have to go and buy another (e.g netgear)?? Thanks, I live in hope....... ![]() |

Re: Setting up an ap (using sky sagem???)
Whether you can set up a repeater using your old modem will depend on the router firmware/capabilities for both routers. Often not easy to do and often poor results.
As Mediuk says, homeplugs are the way to go. Same performance as wired but using the home electricity wiring so no extra wires needed. You can pick up a pair for ~£40, a bit more if you want wireless too. |
