Fastpath

Greetings folks,

I few weeks ago i sent o2 a email asking for a few changes to be made to my line,
They ran dlm on my line and changed the snr`s as the line kept disconnecting,

I was like to add that i had no noticed it doing this as it reconnected quick and so did not mind about this,

I asked that if they could i would like fast path put on my line,
I know this is not some thing that would do just like that but i know the line will be ok,
I also said is this cant be done can i have the interleaving depth (max delays ) changed.

I got a email back from them saying to come on to there online chat to talk about this,
Only thing is i am not sure what chat they are talking about ?

Would any one out there have a clue ?

Regards
Steven

Re: Fastpath

Hi Stephen,

The online chat facility is like an Instant Message conversation to the o2 support staff. This can only be accessed if you have the o2 software installed to your computer. If you do, this is accsessed by clicking the 'O2' icon in the taskbar. The software will then load. You will be presented with a window with numerous option on the left hand side. Click the one that says 'help', then on the main window, click 'online chat' (or something similar).

Just to make you aware that I have asked if O2 would do this, and they said that they do not do fastpath. Even on fastpath, I doubt you would see any reduction in Ping times, they are excellent as they are.

Hope this helps,
Sam

Re: Fastpath

reducing the max delays was something that Sky fudged as they realised that their pings/latency was horrible and that they could lose the very lucrtive gaming market.

As said above O2 has insanely low pings anyways and if you have been suffering disconnects the last thing you want is to make the line more unstable.

This is not the case,
Many isp has these just use other names for them,
O2 Home Access & sky`s connect package use them but its called interleaving depth,

All isp have a system that checks for crc errors on the the line so it just changing the time that the system has to check & try to fix these errors,

As for my ping times being low yes that have come down a good bit over a week or so,

Its no big thing any how as i dont get much time to play online games any more,
How ever would be nice to see how the line responded thats all,

As for the speed its only this good with the cable :-(
When on wireless drops to about 8 - 10Mbps but thats only due to me using Wpa2,
Over all i am more than happy with o2.

Thanks for the help any way folks,

Regards
Steven
