What speed can i expect?

Moving from Sky>>>>to O2 LLU

I was on the 16mb sky max product for 2 years now and I have just singed up to O2..

On sky I get up to 15mb sync sometimes but current connection stats:

Quote:
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 14343 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 30.0 db 16.8 db
Noise Margin 6.6 db 15.0 db
what am i good to get on o2?

also, is the wireless boxII better than the sky netgear?

Re: What speed can i expect?

Check to make sure the ring wire is disconnected at the master socket faceplate as this is known to slow a connection down as yours seems to have been.

o2 run at a lower noise margin to sky, sky's is set to 7db where as o2 set it to 6db.

Re: What speed can i expect?

hello mate

I've tried the ringwire trick, doesn't help me. My master socket is ancient lol. Does the lower noise margin mean higher syncspeeD?

A lower noise margin means there is currently no more speed to gain.

When you disconnected the ring wire did the noise margin change. you are looking for an increase in the noise margin which would mean a higher speed.

Re: What speed can i expect?

Not alot of increase at all to be honest when I did the ringwire trick. I'm getting my Masterbox replaced with a NTE5 soon anyway, will see what it does to my line stats and I shall report back here!

What was the noise margin before you disconnected the ring wire and what was the noise margin afterwards. Removing the ring wire normally increases the noise margin quite alot to make more room for more speed. can you post your stats again after the ring wire disconnected.

Re: What speed can i expect?

I can't really remember to be honest I think the change was something stupid like +0.5db to the SNR...so pretty useless!

Yes, sort of. Noise margin and sync have an inverse relationship.

If the connection is capped then the noise margin may rise - if not capped then the noise margin should stay at the default and the sync rise.

Probably what you meant in your post but thought I'd clarify for anyone else reading.
