Faster Upload than download
Hi,
Until recently my broadband has been working well. Over, over the past 2 weeks it has got much slower. I have run the O2user speedtest which gave the following results. Download 304Kbps Upload 379Kbps Before I contact O2 can anyone advise what might be causing the problem. I have tried a number of different PC's, via cable & wireless into the O2 Wireless II. The result remains the same - Faster Upload than download but still slow. I have also disconnected everything apart from one PC - still the same problem. Thanks in advance |

Re: Faster Upload than download
Speedtesters can be very unreliable so it is best to rely on the sync rate shown in your router stats. Does this also show a higher upstream than downstream?
Post your router stats and I may be able to offer some advice to fix the problem or at least tell you what your options are. |

Re: Faster Upload than download
That's pretty nasty
![]() Your attenuation is high so you're never going to get high speeds but the basic problem is line noise. One thing to check in particular is that every telephony device (phone, fax, digibox etc) has its own properly fitted filter. A higher upstream than downstream can sometimes indicate a filter problem i.e. missing or faulty. Try a connection to your test socket (hidden inside your master if its a NTE5), using only a filter and the supplied router cable i.e. no extension and nothing else plugged in. Try different filters to make sure the one you're using isn't faulty. If the result is the same then the problem lies with your router (unlikely), your BT line (much more likely) or O2's exchange equipment (possible). |
