Which Channel?

Hi

Im just started with o2 Broadband. Im on my second o2 wifi box (type 2) as the first couldnt get the Mcafee to install. (Box wasnt recognised). Got it all working last week, but then I noticed the wifi connection kept dropping out to my xp laptop. And today I noticed it doing the same with the IPhone, showing a signal that got weaker and weaker till it vanished and wouldnt reconnect. My box default channel was 6 I think, but on installation I changed it 9 as the Support guy said it was best to go up. So, today I tried changing back to the default 6 again but the drop-out was no better. I then tried 10. Still no better. Ive just tried 3 and this channel seems to work quite well with no drop-out so far and the IPhone doing fine too. Does anyone know why this is? And what is the best channel? Ive checked on Netstumbler for any competing wifis and there is a BtOPenzone/Hub being picked up but it is on Ch1. On all my previous wifi routers, Linksys, Talktalk etc, I think the signal has been fine on any channel. Is there something weird about o2's Boxes? Is there something weird about o2? Im still in my evaluation period and will have to make decisions about whether to stay or go elsewhere.
