I use Apple Remote to control iTunes on my iMac, streaming to an Airport Express connected to my Hi-Fi. This works perfectly when the iPhone is connected to a WiFi access point that is cabled to the back of my O2 wireless box III, but when the iPhone is connected directly to the WiFi AP from the box itself it cannot find the iTunes library.
Similarly I use eWallet on the iPhone, synchronised to eWallet on a PC laptop. This works fine when the iPhone is connected to a separate access point, but when it is connected to the O2 wireless box the PC cannot see the iPhone. I assumed that this was a firewall problem. I got the super user password from second level support at O2 and temporarily disabled the firewall, but that made no difference. I don’t think it can be anything to do with firewall settings on the laptop or iMac otherwise the applications wouldn't work via a remote access point. I’m baffled - has anybody got any ideas? |

This IT stuff is freaky. I power-cycled the wireless box and rebooted the iPhone and suddenly everything is working fine without me making any changes. But I had done those things before with no effect. Maybe a sequencing thing somehow...
