O2 advanced router
How strange!
I have been having problems with my router. When it is set to 'n' the through put is incredibley slow, when set to 'g' its fine. I have checked everything, even bought a new wireless card, and nothing! O2 connected to my PC through live help and double checked I havent missed anything, and they reset the router, still nothing. So O2 have put a new router in the post. I have just switched on my pc, and the router wouldnt connect, so I checked the wireless config, and rebooted. The router automatically came on set to 'n', and is working perfectly!! I know it sounds like interferiance, but it isnt. ![]() Uptime: 0 days, 11:49:31 DSL Type: G.992.5 annex A Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,403 / 16,873 Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB]: 77.43 / 594.46 Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 18.5 Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 14.5 / 28.0 SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 3.5 / 3.0 Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / BDCM Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 11 / 0 Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 1 / 0 Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0 Loss of Link (Remote): 0 Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 1 / 0 FEC Errors (Up/Down): 139 / 1,172,003 CRC Errors (Up/Down): 139 / 122 HEC Errors (Up/Down): 36 / 84

Re: O2 advanced router
Hi Torbayguy,
It is really strange to hear about the router behaviour. However I’m glad that it’s all working fine with the new wireless box. So have you set that to ‘n’ now? I’ve had a glance over your stats. Your speed is fine with 3.0 dB Noise Margin and 28.0 dB attenuation. However FEC Errors 1,172,003 (download) are too many than expected. I’m assuming that you’ve recently signed with O2 broadband but I’d still insist on doing a 24 hour line test to analyse the root cause. Please let me know if you want me to conduct the test? Re: O2 advanced router
Hiya Abhishek, yea I have only been with O2 a few weeks.
I am using to router set to 'n' now, and getting a throuput speed of around 15meg. I to was a little concerned with the amount of errors showing, and was actually going to ask about a line test, so yes if you could do that, I would be very grate full. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Re: O2 advanced router
The only errors you need to worry about are CRC errors, and they are very low.

Re: O2 advanced router
Yes, I wouldn't be all that concerned about the FEC errors either: after all they are corrected errors and also I suspect an artefact of the DSLAM reporting (they appear to be stored across sessions).
But, a closer investigation won't hurt. |

Re: O2 advanced router
Hi Torbayguy,
Could you PM me your BT landline number, so that I can conduct the test from our side. Abhishek |
