Exclamation Adsl2+

I just recently switched from Sky Broadband to O2 Broadband because of this ADSL2+ (21CN). On Sky i was receiving a speed of 3.5mbps(Download) and 0.64mbps(Upload) on the O2 Router i am receiving 4Mbps(Download) and 1.1Mbps(Upload). If the truth was told i dont think that is TRUE ADSL2+ speed i was told be O2 i could get 8Mbps(Download). Please don't say that's what your package can go up to, they speed tested my line and say i can get that. So what do you think i should do.

Re: Adsl2+

I think you may be confused:

Sky and O2 use the same ADSL tecnology: a rebadged BT product where they don't have equipment in the local exchange and ADSL2+ where they do. If you're getting better speeds with O2 then that's just down to their slightly better implementation of the same technology.

ADSL is a line length/line quality dependent technology i.e. it is only as fast as your specific line will allow - up to a maximum of ~20 meg in the real world. Very few lines can support this highest speed.

You are getting "true" ADSL2+ speeds for your line. However, you may be able to improve your local home phone wiring to get the 8meg you want. Have a look through the forum for advice plus post your router stats and someone will be able to tell you if improvements are possible.

Re: Adsl2+

Thanks for the message Saturday. I just called o2 to ask about my o2 broadband and the speed they are very happy and what i am getting but my exchange as recently been upgrade to ADSL2+ and he says they are in a testing period with it. he says i could get a extra meg or double my speed, but he says it all depends on line quality and length. He said i had so wait about 2 - 3 weeks untill i could see the full extand of ADSL2+ working a 100%

I did a speed test when line quite, and these are my results

Re: Adsl2+

Hi grahamn95

Just want to ask whether you've checked speeds with the Test socket ( socket behind the master faceplate) as this may help sometimes. Also post your stats here and then we can advise you accordingly.
