Weird Wireless Issue
Hello, need some help towards a strange issue I've been having since the past week.
I'm using the o2 wireless box II. Since last week I can't connect to the internet using wifi, called the o2 customer services and a lady who was trying to be really helpful tried all sorts of troubleshooting including restarting the box, changing channels etc but to no avail. Now since 2 days, I've noticed that whenever my desktop which is connected via Ethernet to the o2 box is switched off, the wifi suddenly starts working, as soon as I switch on the PC the wifi stops. Even disabling the ethernet adaptor on the PC brings the wifi back to life. So basically at the moment I can use either my laptop with wifi or my PC via Ethernet, but not both at the same time! I've been with o2 for over an year using the same box but never had this problem before. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

Re: Weird Wireless Issue
Hard to be sure from your description but it could be an IP conflict i.e. your laptop and PC are trying to use the same IP. Go into network properties on both devices and check that they are either both set to obtain an IP automatically OR that they have two different IP addresses set (in the same range) if you are using fixed IPs.
Failing that you may have a dodgy router. |

Re: Weird Wireless Issue
Try booting the desktop PC, and the laptop up.
Connect desktop via cat5 (network) cable, Try to connect to wifi with laptop. If it fails: Go to PC, go to command line (start, run, then type: cmd) type: ipconfig /release wait until it has finished, type ipconfig /renew Do the same to the laptop. That should force both machine to renew their IP addresses (local ones). Does that help? Sorry if you have tried that already!!! |

If it's Windows XP then don't worry about it.
