Re: Vpn Connection

simplest way may be buy a 2nd hand router off eBay that does support it.

At least O2 will allow you to use your own router.

Re: Vpn Connection

Hi telefoojay

The VPN problems are only found on 8.2.23.0 firmware. If you want to get it fixed I'd suggest you to call our CS @ 0800 230 0202 and get the firmware downgraded to 7.4.20.5 (v7) or alternatively you can also run the flashing tool on the installation disc.

Just to let you know we're also rolling out new v8 firmware which will resolve all the firmware flaws.

Please let me know in case you have any further queries.

Iqbal

Re: Vpn Connection

Sheesh! That was well tested, O2...many, many, people use VPN (yours truly included)...I'm really rather happy that I swapped to my old Sky router.

Re: Vpn Connection

o2 did mention this to me Tony.

Quote:
So I again rang o2 as by this time it was getting on my man boobs. I spoke to a lady who sort of knew what I was on about, and she told me that she would get a request done for me to have the newer FW. She also stated 'Most people ask to be downgraded back to this FW, as the VPN doesn't work'.

I politely told her, 'Well I would like to upgrade as my internet doesn't work'.
It seems very hit and miss as to what people know on CS at o2

The Thomson is very flawed, and hopefully the new new FW will sort out so many issues for o2 and their customers.

Mine has been absolutely perfect since using the Netgear.

Re: Vpn Connection

Oh yes...I remember you mentioning it now.

To be fair to O2 my own Thompson rarely let me down but it was a pain for gaming (I don't do that much, but just want something to work when I do) but in the end it was the whole GUI/CLI not matching that made me give up on things.

Also, to be fair to O2, my internet access is just as speedy as day one and much faster than I ever got with Sky and has been extremely reliable.
