How to use a O2 box 2 and 4 together

Hi

I have recently upgraded my O2 broadband router to an O2 Box IV (4) and I still have my old O2 router box II (2).

Does anyone know if I can use the box 2 as an extender to boost the signal where it has a week signal in my home or can I plug it into another phone socket and simultaneously use both routers.

regards

You can't use two routers plugged into the same phone line.

Yes, you could probably use the second router as an "extender" but in my experience this can be tricky to set up and doesn't give very good results. Can't help you with the specific details I'm afraid as I don't use those routers so don't know what functionality/limitations the routers have. There are plenty of generic guides around if you Google, such as this one.

The best solution to poor wireless is of course to use wired. If that's not an option then powerline adaptors can be picked up quite cheaply.

Re: How to use a O2 box 2 and 4 together

Easiest way is to powerline the two routers together.

One has all the DHCP etc turned off and if there's an option to give the LAN (not ADSL) connection a default gateway, make it the other router.

Like Saturday, I can't give steps as I don't know the boxes either.

But the key is that if they both have the same SSID and encryption your wifi equipment will connect to whichever has the strongest signal transparently.
