Re: o2router wired help !!
I'd check the cabling.
Cat 5e should run 90m so unless it's one hell of a big house...

Re: o2router wired help !!
But..it might be worth swapping ports on your router in case it's a faulty port (it does happen)

Re: o2router wired help !!
also I have had cables with slightly smaller RJ45 connectors that didn't make such a good connection with some ports.
It's the old method of swapping things about 1 thing at a time and seeing if that makes a difference. |

Re: o2router wired help !!
Oh and my own personal favourite c*ck up (as in, I've done this myself in the past) - make sure when you fixed the cable you haven't:
*This was my own personal fave when I tacked them with a high powered stapler. D'oh.

Re: o2router wired help !!
hi all thanks very much for all the replies.
1. The cable is 100% sound as i have checked with a meter and showingfull contacts. 2. Router port checked and is ok! 3. RJ45 conectors normal standard not the small ones!! i am thinking to buy a hub and either keep it down next to the router or keep it upstairs! any thoughts or further help! thanks all |

Re: o2router wired help !!
You could try swapping the port with a known good one temporarily - that'd identify if the router is to blame.
And if you could plug something in a bit closer to the 'bad' port? 15m is nothing for ethernet.

Re: o2router wired help !!
Ok well that pretty much rules it down considerably to one of a few things:
The cable between upstairs and downstairs is faulty; The computer upstairs has a faulty network card; The network settings on the computer upstairs are misconfigured.
