Re: How to use your own router with O2 Broadband
I tried a Netgear DG834v2 flashed to the latest f/w but it wasn't as good as the O2 box - 8824/914 v 9192/1192.

Re: How to use your own router with O2 Broadband
Has anyone tried a re-flashed Sky Netgear router ?
Sky haven't asked for their's back, does anyone know if it's yours to keep after you leave them ? |

Re: How to use your own router with O2 Broadband
The Sky router is yours to keep. Legally I don't believe you are allowed to sell it but plenty do. They get very little for them though.
I use my old Sky Netgear DG834GT flashed to the standard Netgear firmware and very good it is too with O2. |

Re: How to use your own router with O2 Broadband
That's got me a bit confused.
![]() You've put that you are on O2 Standard in your profile but you now say you're on O2 Access. If you really are on Access then the previous discussions we've had about DLM don't apply to Access. But confusingly, the stats you've previously posted don't look like Access to me. And if you're on Standard then you're not on DLM any more so I'm also confused about your falling speed comment. |

Re: How to use your own router with O2 Broadband
Ah - I'm with you
![]() As you know, Access is a very different service from O2's LLU products. With regard to getting a sync with the Netgear but not getting an internet connection, tht's what you'd expect if you weren't being authenticated. With Access, the router settings are completely different from LLU settings. You'll find the right settings at the bottom of the first post in this thread. Crucially, to get authenticated, you need to enter your ADSL username and password that O2 sent you with your Access welcome pack. If you don't have them then they will tell you them over the phone. If some of the settings I've given above aren't asked for in the Netgear, don't worry. The important ones are login (username, password), VPI, VCI and PPPoA. |

Re: How to use your own router with O2 Broadband
I'm not aware of any changes/errors. If something had changed then I'd guess all those customers using alternative routers would be having connection failures - and they're not.
All I can suggest is that you're making an error somewhere. The only other thought I have is wondering whether you have connected other routers in the past. If so then the O2 system will only "remember" two (or it might be three) and if you try another then it can take up to 30 min or so before O2 will authenticate the new router and give it a connection. |
