Only one fixed/static IP allowed

Hi all
I joined O2 Broadband (as a business connection) a couple of months ago after ditching BT (because of their useless support/service), and so far I have been very pleased. However, I have a problem. O2 will only allow me one fixed IP address. My experiences in the past with static IPs is that you are issued one for the router and one (or more) for the PCs connected to the router. This has allowed me to use our Server for Exchange services (using an iPhone). As O2 have refused me any additional static IPs I have had to temporarily place the Server in DMZ. This is obviously a worry, but can't find a way around it. Can anybody help? For information... Server has Windows SBS 2003 and the router is a Draytek Vigor 2820n. Many thanks.
Neil

Re: Only one fixed/static IP allowed

Well one possible solution would be to ask for an internal migration to Be - I've heard that they'll normally do this and waive any early termination fees, but this might be incorrect, it would only take a call to find out I guess.

If that was possible then if you took their Be Pro package then you can have up to 16 static IPs. Going to cost more a month though

Re: Only one fixed/static IP allowed

Cheers, Saturday... Many thanks for the swift reply. I'll give it a try Monday and let you know if it is still possible! Not too fussed about the cost. It still works out much cheaper than BT Broadband, and for twice the speed!!
Regards
Neil

Good luck - O2 are pretty good so I think there's every chance they'll do it for you. What might work in your favour is you joined as a business customer and now O2 don't do a specific business service any more.

Might be worth calling the sales number rather than Customer Services as the CS agents might not know the process. Start with Be sales and if they can't help try O2BB sales.

Re: Only one fixed/static IP allowed

Sorry this is a late reply to a rather old thread, but I wondered how you got on with O2/BE?

And if you didn't get anywhere with them, then you can still run multiple servers on a single external IP address - just forward the relevant ports to your internal servers (for example, I have a pair of HP ProLiant ML servers running VMware with [amongst others] an Exchage 2007 solution, a web server, an IP PBX) and all that I do is forward the SMTP (25) and HTTPS (443) ports to the Exchange server, the HTTP (80) port to my web server and the SIP ports (too many to mention) to the PBX and it works a treat.

I put a how-to on the forums that give more info on it, but feel free to ping me a private message if you want more details.

Tony.
