Question All Webmail has vanished!

First post, I hope you can help.

When adding O2 to my Outlook accounts on one of my desktops, I forgot to tick the box to leave a copy on the server, meaning the other computers on the network couldn't download the same emails. So, after ticking the box, I logged into webmail to move the emails from trash back into the inbox.

One problem: they weren't anywhere to be seen - not in trash or any other folder. I have not manually deleted anything in webmail and I have the default setting of moving deleted items to trash.

So, is there any way to retrieve the emails back into the inbox or have they gone forever?

Re: All Webmail has vanished!

Did you do a send/recieve before correcting the mistake?

If so then the mails were downloaded onto that one PC and were wiped off the mail server.

If not then they should be there, may need to phone O2 for help.

Re: All Webmail has vanished!

Thanks for the reply.

I did do a send/receive, and that's why I understand that they are missing. But I'd hoped they would be sent to trash before possibly being permanently deleted after a set period of time. Seemingly not.

They are, of course, on the one PC but I'd hoped to avoid having to forward them to the rest of the network.

(It's annoying that Outlook's default setting is to remove from the server, especially in these days of more and more home and business users having networks).

Re: All Webmail has vanished!

If you are using outlook you can highlight the mail, go to EDIT and COPY the mail and then PASTE it into an empty folder.

Then the rest of the network can COPY those emails and PASTE them back into their version of outlook.

Should be easier than having to forward them all.

Re: All Webmail has vanished!

I'm afraid they're gone from the server now - not deleted, but downloaded and retrieved.

Which version of Outlook are you using? Depending on the version, there's a few ways to export the mails so they can be imported from the network.
