o2 Send a Free Text Message

If you log on to the O2 ? The UK's Leading Provider of Mobile Phones & Broadband web site and try and send a free text message from web to a mobile phone, this link currently appears not to work.

Having spoken to an o2 customer service rep I understand that BT are performing maintenance on the port at the moment.

I have noticed this problem for a few days. Does anyone have an update on when it will work.

Just tried it - working fine - text arrived within 5 seconds.

What error message are you getting or is the text just not arriving?

when logging on to o2, my broadband, then send a text message I am getting IE cannot display this page. The address bar shows.
Login - O2
but there is a blank page. IE7 on two separate computers, same effect as is Firefox. I am not blocking it in any of my antispam redirects?

Odd. I've just tried again and everything is fine up to sendtext.o2.co.uk/. . . /compose when now the page has lost its formatting. The functionality is still there though and I can send a text.

Looks like they're having problems/are working on it at the moment.

This must be area specific or account specific. I have just spoken to a nice lady in O2 customer service. She actually logged into my account and got the page cannot be displayed error in IE. It is going to be logged as a fault to investigate.

I guess in view of previous comments its an area or account range specific problem.

Certainly cannot fault O2 customer service people.

Since reporting it this problem has now been fixed. O2 who could have taken 5 days have done it in less than 5 hours. Cant fault the service at the moment
DNS servers are a bit slow at times though

I'm on the Premium package, joined in Dec 2008, and I'm only getting 100 free web texts / month rather than the 200 advertised.

I've Emailed O2 about it and apparently there are plenty others with this allocation problem. I was advised that it is being worked on.

Rather strangely they asked me to email them my user name and password so they could add my account onto the support ticket. I wasn't impressed and pointed out that my O2 Email address and landline that I had already supplied was plenty to know which account I was referring to.
