Re: O2 Email Settings
taken from the o2 help pages (which to my mind are hidden a bit for new users)
Help - O2 I cannot see IMAP and this is what it says about POP Settings for other email programs You can get your o2.co.uk email in most email software, including the most popular programs, like: * Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express * Eudora * Lotus Notes * Apple Mail * Mozilla Mail * Thunderbird * Opera Mail * Pegasus Mail If the program you use isn't listed here, just check to see if it can work with a POP or POP3 email server. If it can (and there are hardly any which can't), you'll just need to enter the following settings to get your O2 email. Unfortunately we can’t provide instructions for every single program here, but there's usually an option along the lines of 'add a new email account'. That's where you'll need to enter these details: Incoming mail server (It's sometimes called the POP or POP3 server) Enter 'mail.o2.co.uk' Outgoing mail server (It's sometimes called the SMTP server) Enter 'smtp.o2.co.uk' Where you have an option for 'Use Authentication' on the outgoing server: Enter: * User Name: your full O2 email address e.g yourname@o2.co.uk * Password: the password you use to login to the O2 website or when you check your O2 Webmail. User Name (Sometimes called the account login) Enter your full o2.co.uk email address. Password Enter the password for this email account. There will probably be an option to remember the password. If you don't choose this, you'll have to enter the password each time you check for new email. Email address Enter your full O2 email address. This should be all the information you need. If the program you're using has other settings, leave them as they are. You'll probably find it will work with your O2 email. Also O2 block port 25 from being used by anything except their authentiucated servers, so if you want to use your own paid for mail service you need to go and find out if they have an alternative port you could use. |

Re: O2 Email Settings
Could be wrong but I have a feeling that IMAP will work if you use their (secret-ish) non authenticated relay.o2broadband.co.uk SMTP server. How reliable it is though I couldn't say.
