Re: Run a speed test and post your results here

Greetings folks,

Just a quick one,

All live from last night working grand,
Worked out (Thanks to this forums) how to get the advanced router stats,
Line seems great,

Uptime: 0 days, 9:13:46
DSL Type: G.992.5 annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,338 / 22,405
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/kB]: 0.00 / 0.00
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 17.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 6.5 / 13.5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 7.5 / 7.0
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / BDCM
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): 0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 7,349
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 0
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 15 / 0

So the line is self is getting 20Meg or so,
Yet only getting a thoughput of about 10Meg,
This is on wireless fair enough but i should not be losing that much ?

Also if i Connect the cable i get about 12 - 14 Meg !
No as i said only live from last night so i guess could have some thing to do with it ?

Ps : whats the crack with o2 and fast path ?

Kinda regards
Steven.

Yes, wireless can easily half the throughput. However, if you're not getting much better wired then there's another issue. Start with the sticky in this forum but it could be down to your connection being so new (and not finally configured yet).

Officially O2 don't offer fastpath.

O2 have their network pretty well set up and their interleaving isn't too harsh. Most people find they have pings in the 17-20ms range.

Re: Run a speed test and post your results here

Welcome back

Quick question: are you connected wirelessly (you mentioned wireless on another thread)?

Speedtest.net is a truly rubbish speedtester and you may as well use a random number generator. Add the limitations of wireless to that and your speedtest results probably become meaningless.

Post your router sync and noise margin. That will give an indication of what is going on and what throughput speeds you should expect.

Re: Run a speed test and post your results here

Where would I find my router stats?
I am connected wireless, I was getting 16meg wireless from sky also...
I was getting 16meg for about 7 month, without any drop of connection, so I know my line can handle it.
I have checked and double checked all connections, they are all fine, so I assume it must at o2's end?
I'll post another speed test
